Sports Core OPEN for all classes, lap swimming and recreational swimming. Pool hours are as usual: 11 to 8 Mon-Thurs, Friday 11-7 and 10-7 weekends. We now have a connected main drain with new  VGB drain covers, fresh paint in the bathrooms and entry area including floors and new Softflex flooring from the showers to the benches which provides a soft, clean, colorful grid to walk on and keep your feet clean while you dress.

Deep Water Aerobics Swimmin’ Wimmin Start your day with deep water aerobics! All you need is a float belt and you are on your way to improved health and muscle tone. This class takes place in the deep end of Sports Core pool and is taught by a volunteer instructor. Fee: per 6 week session: Swim Member $55, Resident $75, Non-Resident $85

Swimmin’ Wimmin’ Water Aerobics

Start you day with Water Aerobics! Using water resistance lets reshape our bodies, improve our balance, and increase bone density. Water aerobics is a low impact workout that does not strain joints. Let’s have fun using noodles, mats, boxes and music while achieving our goals! Fee per 6 week session: Swim Members $55, OP Residents $75, Non-Residents $85

This is a fun total body workout. Bring two empty one-gallon jugs with caps and a swim noodle. This class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Fee: Swim Members $45, OP Residents $60, Non-Resident $70

Tri-Training (in session, pro-rate)

Come get a jump-start on the tri season. This 8 week class will improve you stamina, technique, and increase your speed. Each session will include speed work, endurance training, and technique drills. Come practice your swim technique with Senior Sharks Swim Coach Sarah Ziccarelli. All levels welcome. Fee: $32 Swim Member, $42 Resident, $52 Non-Resident

Sharks Masters Swim Team (in session, pro-rate)

Ages: 18 and up. This team is for any adult interested in working out, meeting new people, and getting healthy. Focus will be on building endurance and technique. This program meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6am to 7am. Fee: Swim Member $18, Residents $36, Non-Residents $50

Senior Sharks Masters Swim Team (in session, pro-rate_

This swim team is for swimmers of all abilities who are 50 years and older. This program is for individuals who are interested in an organized workout that takes place in a “practice environment”. This team is designed to improve physical fitness, technique, and assist with reaching personal goals. The goal set forth by the instructor is to challenge everyone to train for the entire year to compete in the 2010 Maryland Senior Olympics. “Practices” are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Fee: $18 Swim Member, $36 Residents, $50 Non-Residents

Ai Chi
Ai Chi is a water exercise class that was designed in Japan and imported into the US by the Aquatic Therapy & Rehabilitation Institute. It consists of slow, controlled movements done to music and is appropriate for a variety of medical conditions, including low back pain, joint problems, recovery from surgery after PT, arthritis, COPD, osteoporosis, stroke and other chronic diseases, such as MS, Parkinsonism, cancer, etc. Ginny Reister is the instructor. A masters level exercise physiologist, she has been teaching this class in Ocean Pines since 2000. A notebook of exercises that can be done on land and in water will be provided. Use of resistance equipment and balance techniques will be included. The use of music promotes relaxation and lowers stress.
