Heavy storm conditions likely Thursday and into Friday

(Oct. 27, 2020) Tropical Storm Zeta could bring heavy rainfall to the area from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, according to the latest National Weather Service (NWS) models.

Rainfall from 1-2 inches is forecast, along with the possibility for damaging winds. 

Additionally, small craft advisory conditions are likely Thursday afternoon and into Friday. Periods of gale-force winds are possible Thursday night and Friday. 

According to NWS, Zeta crossed the Yucatan Peninsula this morning and is expected to regain hurricane strength within the next 12 hours. The National Weather Service expects the storm to hit the Gulf Coast on Wednesday and affect the Mid-Atlantic region on Thursday. 

A secondary low pressure system and a strong cold front will cross the area later Thursday night into early Friday, NWS said.
