Recreation and Parks Department to offer youth, adult dance classes

The Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks Department will offer dance classes for adult and youth beginners starting in January at the Community Center. Classes will be led by Kate Carpenter, a member of the Salisbury University Dance Company.

Adult Jazz Dancing for ages 18 and up will be held on Thursdays, Jan. 7-28 from 5-6 p.m. Participants will learn jazz moves and will develop their skills each week. Previous experience is not required. The cost for the four-week session is $45 for Ocean Pines residents and $55 for non-residents.

A beginner dance class for youth ages 11-17 will introduce musical theater, modern and jazz dancing. The first session will be held on Saturdays, Jan. 9-30 from 2-3 p.m. Additional sessions will be held Feb. 6-27 and March 6-27. The cost for each four-week session is $40 for Ocean Pines residents and $45 for non-residents.
