Ocean Pines Public Works will not operate its leaf vacuum truck on Monday, Jan. 20 due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The truck will resume operation on Tuesday, Jan. 21 starting on the Section 6 side of Windjammer Road at the cul-de-sac and heading toward Ocean Parkway.
The vacuum truck will continue collection through the community, and news updates as to the truck’s location will be posted on OceanPines.org. Residents are reminded that only ditch leaves will be vacuumed. Yard leaves should either be placed in bags for collection or brought to the Public Works Yard. Residents should refrain from blowing leaves directly into the ditches, as this can lead to clogging of pipes as well as difficulty in water flow.
Republic Services will pick up paper and plastic bags out on scheduled pick-up days, with a limit of four bags of leaves per scheduled pick up. Republic Services will also accept branches tied in bundles no longer than four feet.
Additionally, Ocean Pines residents may bring leaves and yard debris in bulk or paper bags to the Public Works yard at 1 Firehouse Lane, near the south Fire Department. The yard is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
