New Tai Chi Classes Begin in January

The Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks Department will offer two new tai chi classes in January at the Ocean Pines Community Center, located at 235 Ocean Parkway. Kim Reed from Radiant Motion for Health will lead the sessions.

Tai chi, an ancient Chinese form of gentle exercise, is comprised of a series of slow, deliberate motions. Its minimal impact on joints and muscles makes it ideal for all ages and fitness levels.

Tai Chi – The 24 Forms will be offered on Tuesdays, Jan. 7-Feb. 25 from 10-11 a.m. The most widely practiced tai chi form, the 24 Forms is clinically proven to be one of the most effective exercises to improve health, fitness and relaxation.

Tai Chi for Arthritis II is geared toward people with arthritis or other joint issues to provide greater flexibility and strength in the joints and to increase balance to reduce falls. It will be held Jan. 9-Feb. 27 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

The cost per eight-week session for either class is $65 for Ocean Pines residents and $81.25 for non-residents.
