Public urged to be #StormReady ahead of severe weather

The following is a release from Worcester County:

(September 22, 2023) With a tropical storm warning in effect for the Lower Eastern Shore beginning Friday evening, Worcester County Emergency Services (WCES) officials are urging area residents to be #StormReady.

National Weather Service (NWS) forecasters are predicting that a tropical storm will drop up to four or more inches of rain, wind gusts around 50 mph, which may cause significant tree and power line damage and localized flooding in poor drainage areas, and moderate tidal flooding.

Area residents and visitors are urged to secure boats and outdoor objects, such as lawn furniture and trashcans, that could become airborne during high winds. Construction companies should secure equipment and properly dispose of debris.

Always avoid traveling on or crossing flooded roadways.
