Ocean Pines Farmers & Artisans Market – Kids Market Zone Special Guest June 20
Monday, June 8, 2026
The following is a news release from the Ocean Pines Farmers & Artisans Market:
(June 8, 2026) The Ocean Pines Farmers & Artisans Market welcomes Rock Hall children's author Farmer Abe for a special meet and greet in the Kids Market Zone on Saturday, June 20, at 9 a.m. at the White Horse Park Marketplace.
Farmer Abe will greet young readers and families, sign books, take photos, and share the heart of his work: choose love.
About Farmer Abe
Abraham Keyes, better known as Farmer Abe, is a children's book author from Rock Hall whose stories are rooted in real life, rich with heart, and built around one simple but powerful message: choose love.
Drawing from his childhood growing up on farms in South America, Canada, and Montana alongside eleven siblings, Keyes brings authentic agricultural experiences to life through imaginative animal stories that explore acceptance, compassion, and purpose.
The barnyard books
• "When Don-key the Chicken Had Baby Ducks" – his debut introduces Don-key, a hen who finds new purpose caring for duck eggs and later loving the ducklings as her own. If a chicken can learn to love something so different, so can we.
• "Moo Moo the Dog Adopts a Baby Pig" (December 2023) – explores acceptance on an even broader scale.
• "Kitty the Goat and the Puppy" – his third book, recently finished, follows Kitty, a retired prize goat who rediscovers purpose when given the responsibility of raising a puppy. Keyes is already at work on book four.
The five-book series will conclude with a personal story about "Little Abe" and a very special horse.
Why schools love him
Writing with no expectations, Keyes was quickly overwhelmed by response. Within weeks schools were lining up to purchase hundreds of copies, and to date he has sold an estimated 8000+ books. His work has found a special place in classrooms for its focus on empathy, inclusion, and kindness.
He has made several local TV news appearances and has been invited to speak at schools across Delmarva.
"When given the chance, always choose love - because you never know how the love you give might change your life forever."
The Ocean Pines Farmers & Artisans Market is Worcester County Maryland's largest year-round farmers and artisans market, a community-oriented, European-style open-air market held under the trees of White Horse Park. Live music, special events, and children's activities happen weekly.
Stop by the Kids Market Zone at 9 a.m. to meet Farmer Abe, get books signed, and take photos, then shop local produce, baked goods, and handmade artisan wares.
