Annual Art Hansen Memorial Youth Fishing Contest a success

The following is a release from the Ocean Pines Anglers Club (OPAC):

(July 24, 2026) The Ocean Pines Anglers Club hosted youth in 3 age categories from 4-16 along with parents and grandparents at their annual Art Hansen Memorial Youth Fishing Contest on Saturday, July 18, at the South Pond in Ocean Pines.

75 youth registered and over 100 fish were caught by the group. Trophies were awarded for largest fish in each age category along with prizes for 2nd and 3rd place.

Additional awards were given for the most fish, plus a Grand Prize drawing for an Adam Burtson custom rod and reel. All participants received a prize.

The Anglers Club would like to thank the Ocean City/Berlin Optimist Club, Ocean Pines Park and Recs, White Marlin Women’s Crew, OC American Legion, OC Knights of Columbus, Choptank Electric and DNR for their support of the event.

Results are as follows:

Age 4-7 Largest Fish
1st: Logan Dettit - 18.5" bass
2nd: Willow Hardy - 7.5" blue gill
3rd: JoJo Kuhar - 5.5" blue gill

Age 4-7 Most Fish: Rosalie Gill - 3 blue gills

Age 8-11 Largest Fish
1st: Peter Poulin - 24.5" carp
2nd: Josephine Hooper - 16" bass
3rd: Tyler Musser - 6.5" blue gill

Age 8-11 Most Fish: Nico Gagliard - 8 blue gills

Age 12-16 Largest Fish
1st: Mitchell Leisure - 8.5" blue gill (2)
2nd: Lincoln Towers - 8.5" blue gill (1)
3rd: Lorenzo Gaglard - 7.75" blue gill

Age 12-16 Most Fish: Scott Sebastian - 7 blue gills
