About OPRC Tennis

Whether you are in Ocean Pines for the day or for the season, you are invited to join us here for the best tennis on the Eastern shore! We offer a full array of tennis and social activities, including organized recreational and competitive play, private lessons, group clinics, junior camps, league play, and USTA tournaments.

The Ocean Pines Racquet Center is a very friendly, professionally managed, and socially active tennis facility open to the public – where new members are always welcome!

A full array of tennis and social activities is provided from dawn to dusk by the tennis staff and the membership. Whether it's a friendly competition, drop-in tennis, or playing in the evening followed by a group meal — it's here for you. For those who desire more competitive play, the club participates in USTA® and Interclub Competitions and offers several club tournaments and league play.

Our facility features 10 outdoor tennis courts, including eight soft courts and two lighted hard courts available for year-round play.

Social Events

Many of our annual events are hosted by the Ocean Pines Tennis Club (OPTC), the social core of our tennis activities in Ocean Pines, offering fun tournaments, dinners block parties, picnics, and more. Individuals who purchase an annual membership are invited to join the OPTC in celebrating our history and traditions through these exciting events.

Racquet Center visitors are asked to place drop-in fees in the Pro Shop drop box when a Pro Shop attendant is not on duty.

Racquet Sports Members & Guests: Please sign in at the Pro Shop prior to heading to the courts. By signing in, you help us keep track of court usage/availability, maintain accurate statistics and validate memberships. Thank you!

Racquet Sports Members Only: Ocean Pines Racquet Sports members are asked to sign at the Pro Shop using their member/resident ID card. Members who don't have a card can have one made at the Ocean Pines Administration Building

Instruction

Private Tennis Lessons

Private tennis lessons are the most effective way to learn new strokes and shots that work for your personal style of play or to improve a stroke  or shot you're currently using. Lessons are held at the Ocean Pines Racquet Center.

Adult Beginner Tennis Class

Learn basic strokes, court movement and footwork. Class time will focus on consistency in strokes, scoring, tennis etiquette and basic strategy in playing singles and doubles.

Net Generation Junior Tennis Academy


Net Generation is a celebration of a game where no one sits on the sidelines. Tennis is easy to learn and tailored for all ages and abilities, giving kids a game that will help them build friendships and learn skills they’ll use for life.

Level I (ages 5-10): Designed to each children the FUNdamentals of tennis while remembering that having a good time is the most important part of the game. Basic stroke techniques will be covered in the lessons with fun games.

Level II (ages 11-17): Our advanced junior tennis training consists of approximately 30% instruction and 70% repetition. Repetition of strokes and playing patterns is necessary to make them subconscious and automatic.

Stroke of the Day

There are many aspects to improving as a tennis player. One of those is having fluid mechanics and great technique. Video analysis may be used to clearly identify areas that can be improved in your game and learn how to correct them.

High Performance Tennis Training

For experienced junior and adult tennis players who want to take their game to the next level! The class is committed to ensuring that each player improves technically and tactically, reaching their overall maximum potential. Included in the program are high-repetition, physical training sessions that take place on court.

Adult Racquet Skill Development

Learn basic strokes, court movement and footwork. Class time will focus on consistency in strokes and tennis basic strategy and will use Paddle Pop 60 game format to cross-train tennis skills.
